Slainte! At Irish Fest on Saturday, my mom and Mr. Z toasted to their good fortune when it comes to in-laws! Here's to nice people!

Irish Fest is one of the big festivals at the Summerfest grounds in Milwaukee. We try to make it every year.  The music is fantastic!

I was up and at 'em early this morning making delicious tasties for a very special one-year old, Miss M. I made four dozen cupcakes and a "smashing cake" for her birthday celebration.

The cake is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, as are the 24 cupcakes below.

Here I am with the cutest cupcake of all! She's already interested in her cake.

These beauties are my pride and joy.  They are chcocolate cupcakes, filled with strawberry jam and topped with buttercream frosting and chocolate covered strawberries.  I mean really... get out of here!

"Enough with the kisses dad, I'm ready for my cake!"

"Hmmmm. This is mushy."

"Maybe I'll smash it!  This is fun!"

"Oh wait... this tastes good too?!?"

"Let's see what we have here..."

"Yummmy!"

"I get to eat this whole thing, right?"

Time to clean up!  Easily distracted by splashing fun water!

Super-star Lucas, a champion triathlete, enjoys a chocolate cupcake.

And after all that fun and sugar, we came back for a good, old fashioned, Sunday dinner at the homestead.

Corn, salad, garlic bread and steak.  All local and delicioso!

My mom is staying through Tuesday, but Mr. Z left today for a week of work out of town. We enjoyed a post-Sunday night dinner Scotch, toasting a safe and healthy week of travel, work, fun and most of all family.
